Overview on Employee Performance Evaluations
Periodically, performance must be evaluated to determine if employees have met expectations and where they can improve.
Employees are in a better position than supervisors in determining how they measured up to the expectations set for them. Whereas supervisors only get glimpses of their performance throughout the period, employees have a first hand account of all that they have done. As such, the onus falls on them to show how they stacked up during the period.
Performance evaluations are the primary determinant of an employee's career and compensation trajectory within the Company. Employees cannot expect good performance results if not enough effort into their performance evaluations.
